December 21, 2022 at 5:17 pmHi, I’m absolute C4D newbie and beginner and I’m currently doing this online tutorial for beginners and I have to set a color gradient for an object and now I have an issue where it shows me like a simple color but if I set in the material manage a color gradient it only will display the gradient in black and white.
Only in my render preview it will show me the colors I actually selected, which makes the workflow really impossible for me. Also in the video like the gradient is visible all the time not just in the render preview.
Please help! Thanks

December 21, 2022 at 6:36 pmHi Jay,
Thank you for your question. To see the assigned materials on your meshes/objects, you must enable materials in your viewport’s option menu.I’ve provided a preview of how to enable your viewport’s materials. You may also use the key combination N+Q to toggle on and off quickly.

December 27, 2022 at 5:53 pmHi Michael,
thank you for your answer. Unfortunately this won’t solve the problem. The material is checked in the viewport and I have to say it again: It shows the gradient in general but only in black and white – not the colors (!) of the gradient. This is really weird.
Only when I render I ALSO see the colors not just the black and white version of the gradient.
It will show me solid colors any time. I really don’t know what’s the issue.

First one is the gradient in colors when rendered.
The second one is the gradient without color when not rendered.
and the third one is just the solid color without render.
