  • Beginner Question Trim clip at end of sequence

I’m in the process of Learning MC 5.5 (Migrating from FCP) and i’m confused on how to do one thing. I have a clip at the end of my timeline sequence and i want to make that clip longer at the tail end. if i use the Smart trim tools or if i’m in trim mode i can’t seem to extend the end of the clip pass the end of the current timeline duration. I have penalty of handles, how do i do this i know it must be possible. Or I’m i stuck going back into the source window and extending my out point then inserting the clip back into the timeline.

    I hope this makes sense

    Thanks

In trim mode you should be able to click the source window and add time to the clip (3 sec. = +300 enter)

Make sure you have your yellow trim roller, and drag it out.

It will pay to learn the original AVID trim mode pre MC5.0 accessed by “U”on the keyboard,

from here you can do many different trims to ins, outs, ripples, centre, slip, roll, also try to get your head around asymmetrical trimming, ( trimming different clips in different directions at once.)

Thank you…! Works in 6.5 too.
