When I overlay a clip from the Source monitor to the Timeline, the sound volume from the Timeline playback is always quieter than the Source Monitor playback. Why is that?

I am using RED (r3d) footage that has embedded sound with video. The video plays with sound in the Source monitor at a certain level. When I overlay/insert the clip into the Timeline, the video plays with sound in the Timeline with much lower volume. Is there a setting or peculiarity about Premiere that I need to learn about?

Judging audio volume is not for the ears, but the eyes looking at the Master Volume Meters or Audio Mixer.
