i am trying out the cinema4d demo right now, but one thing that i am having problems finding is soem kind of guidance to show how to integrate 3d in cinema with real world video footage.

I want to be sure i buy a package i can use to add 3d objects into live action – is Cinema4d suitable? or should i consider Maya (i’m mac based). Its been a long while since i did any 3d so i am starting almost from scratch so i don’t have pre-existing preferences…i just want to get a good solid package that is relatively straight for ward to learn and that can integrate with live action and After Effects.

    any advice would be appreciated.

The compositing options in Cinema are fine for most applications. However you will need a 3rd party tracking aplication like syntheyes of PF hoe/track…..

would the Mocha for After Effects that shipped with After Effects CS4 be suitable?

do you know of any tutorials that show any relevant info?

    thanks

AE will cover some of the tracking but certainly not all. Not sure what relevant info you are looking for.
Josh Johnson did some tracking tutorials for cineversity recently thats probably your best bet.

thanks – i look out for those.

not too sure what i need either. All i know is all the tutorials i have seen show the basics of making text logos, shading, character animation etc.
All useful, but i need to know how to import video and then be able to position my models to appear within the 3d space…i know its advanced, but i just cant seem to find anything that even hints at it.

Motion tracking will be more or less the same no matter what 3D application you use: you’ll need separate 3D tracking software.

That said, there is a new plugin that allows you to do 3D tracking right inside Cinema: https://www.scenespector.com/

I’m not aware of an equivalent for other 3D applications.

They have a quick and free tutorial using PF hoe that shows a little bit about it.
I know Josh did a full composite start to finish in his… But you need a subscription to it.
C4Dcafe has loads of good tutorials about most things….not match moving though.’
C4d portal has the best rigging tutorials.

there are loads of good free tutorials all over…
