BCC 4 on Intel Mac with FCP. Anyone get this to work?
We’ve installed and uninstalled BCC 4 multiple times on our FCP 5.1.2 / Mac Pro Quad 3.0 system and simply can’t get the system to work with those filters installed. Has anyone else been able to get them to work.
All Boris Support suggested was to uninstall / re-install but that doesn’t work.
What happens on our system is one of three things:
1 – Final Cut Pro will not render anything. Even FCP native filters won’t render.2 – Final Cut Pro will crash if I try to use the Boris 3D Titling tool, even though that has nothing to do with BCC 4.
3 – After Effects will crash on every other render.
The only solution to all of these is to remove all the BCC 4 filters. I asked Boris for a refund since I did pay for the filters, but they keep referring me to Boris Tech Support.
Just curious if anyone else has gotten BCC 4 to work reliably on an Intel Mac and how did you get it to work? Thanks!

Hi Walter,
BCC 4.0 with the recently available 4.1 patch for Intel Macs does work on my Dual 2.66 Ghz Intel Macpro. I had similar problems too when I was testing their demos but after doing a clean install of everything including OS and FCP it does show up and works flawlessly.

Well, good to know it works there. We’ve done all the re-installs here and it still doesn’t work at all.
How much RAM do you have and do you have any third party capture cards? We run the AJA Kona 3 here.

Ok, that’s a lot less RAM and a different capture card. We have 4GB RAM in our machine. Thanks for the additional info. I contacted Boris Tech Support (again) to see if they have anything new for me to try.

Just had a good 45 minute conversation with Paul from Boris FX Tech Support and there is a definite conflict between the Boris 3D Titler that comes with Final Cut Pro and the BCC 4 filters on the Intel. Boris engineers are working on this and will hopefully have a resolution in the near future.
The short-term workaround is to keep the BCC 4 plugins out while I’m working in FCP because I use the 3D Titler for all my lower thirds. If I need a BCC plugin, I can put them back into FCP, export my effected video as a self contained movie, then bring that back in and remove the BCC 4 filters again. Convoluted to be sure, but at least it allows me to work with the BCC 4 filters as needed until they can get a resolution.

I’m glad I didn’t get a chance to load BCC 4 on my Mac Pro dual 3.0. It’s still sitting here collecting dust. At least it’ll be a good tax write off. I guess I rely on Boris a little to much, too bad we can’t talk Cayman Graphics into putting out their CG for FCP.
