  • Battery Light on Stand

    Hey, again, everyone

My shoot is coming fast and furious and I’m using a kit that I don’t usually use…so I’ve been pepperin’ the Cow with questions. Here’s another.

I’m shooting with an EX-3, and as I can’t find a camera-mounted light to run off the camera’s IDX Elite battery, I’m wondering if there’s a light that will run off the same battery but not mounted to the camera…essentially, a lamp on a stand, powered by the battery sitting on the floor.

I used to do this in a pinch with those flat Sony BP90 batteries and Mini-Frezzi or Lowel Pro “sun guns” so the light wasn’t right on the camera.

Does such an animal exist? Make and model would be great!

    Thank you, as always…

I use a power tap from IDX that allows me to run a on camera light or one on a stand separate from the camera battery on the EX-3. I have a shoulder brace by Olof@WestsideAV.com and they included a power plug that would work for a light. I am sure you can find a power tap from IDX…. Just plug it in to the power connection on the IDX and then power you light with it. Also theere is a power tap for 12 volt lead acid batteries like the “Again& Again” 12 volt battery that will allow you to run a light.

    Hope this helps
