  • Batch list template?

Posted by Tom Matthies on February 5, 2006 at 4:53 am

Anyone out there have a spreadsheet-type “template” prepared for making an offline FCP batch list? I have a producer that is used to working with Avid’s Media Log software for making batch capture lists. He’d like a spreadsheet template for FCP where he has to only fill in time code numbers and a discription and then give it to me for import into FCP for batch capture. I made a batch list with the necessary columns enable and exported it for him, but he is unable to open it in Excell on a PC, for some reason, even though I can open it in Excel on my Mac. Weird.
Anyone have a suggestion to streamline the process of going from offline to online?

Maybe have your guy export Media Logs as ALEs then use Sebsky Toolsl to convert to a FCP Batch List.

There is an .XLS link at the bottom of article Technique: Exporting Batch Lists from FCP for Excel Larry Jordan January, 2005.

For what it’s worth, I have tried the template listed above and I didn’t get it to work correctly. I changed a few of the fields a bit and got it working fine now. The producer for this video logged all of his time code numbers using the modified template and FCP had no trouble importing it as a batch list. Capture of 5 reels of Digibeta went flawlessly. A HUGE time saver!
    Thanks again for the link.
