Batch Export / Still Images Problem
I am experiencing a frustrating problem while trying to batch export still images. I have been getting mostly blank, white frames. I am designating a still with in and out points in the middle of the movie and keeping my playhead right on the frame. It doesn’t matter what file type I export, with in and out points or without, from quicktimes or timelines… 90-95 percent of my images are coming out blank. I will batch export again and again until eventually I get them all to correctly export, but if I’m exporting 50 stills, it will take 10-15 tries.
This also sometimes happens when I do a single still image export, but not nearly as often as with the batch.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both FCP and quicktime pro, but the problem persists. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

Can you post a screen grab of your timeline? I’m having a hard time understanding what exactly is going on.
What’s the source of the stills? TIFF, PSD, freeze frames generated by FCP? And how are they coming into the timeline?

I am using FCP 6.0.5
The source of these still images are uncompressed 8-bit video.

So are you doing a freeze frame, setting an in and an out, then doing a fit to fill? If so, welcome to the land of “it’s a feature, not a bug” and I can explain more. If not, then what are you doing? What’s the workflow the leads up to this issue?

Actually, you never answered my question about how you are making the freeze frames and if you’re setting ins and outs in your timeline, which might not seem like it has anything to do with the price of tea in China, but it does. If you posted a screen grab like I suggested, we all might be able to help you more. A picture is often worth a thousand words as we all know.

This problem has been resolved for me (sort of).
Before I was placing in and out points right on the video (working with uncompressed 8-bit) in the timeline. This is what led to the blank frames. What I am doing now is making a freeze frame and placing it in my timeline. Then when I add in and out points to that and batch export, everything works properly. It’s still another step from what I was doing before, but it’s only 1 or 2 seconds of work.
