Batch Capture with Mojo DX / AJ-HD1700 results in 4 frame slip
Hi all, I’ve run into a problem and I’d appreciate anything that comes to mind.
SETUP
I have a fully supported Avid spec system running 3.5.1 with a Mojo DX and a Gen10. We’re importing DVCPro HD at 20:1 over two decks – AJ-HD1700 and AJ-HD1400.Our tapes were loaded hot (audio +12db). We’ve already started editing the episode, so we’re batch capturing over the master clips on the 1700. Each master clip is the entire tape (around 30 mins). The pre-roll is usually under 1 second; therefore we can only use the 1700 to batch capture. The 1400 can’t lock up with such short pre-roll times.
PROBLEM
After the batch capture is complete we’ve noticed a 4 frame drift.
The audio/video (lipsync) is fine on the recaptured clip.
We’re doing some frankenbyting and that’s where we notice the issue. We have to slip the audio edits 4 frames left to have them sound right.
It’s like the relationship between the timecode and the media has changed.Example:

01;04;00;04 = “hello”Batch capture
01;04;00;00 = “hello”Obviously this can’t be.
INCONSISTENT
Here’s the fun part. Not all tapes exhibit this behavior. Out of 7 tapes we batch captured, 4 of them have the slip issue.IDEAS
We’ve tried reloading problem tapes in hopes that it would fix the sync. It did not. It recaptures with the same 4 frame drift.The only thing that I can think of is that it has to do with the two different decks. But, that doesn’t make real sense either as running them through a Mojo DX makes them frame accurate.
Other than that, I’m out of ideas. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same problem… Sony HVR-1500 with a 2 frame drift.
PITA but once aware of it I would just go through the sequence and slip every HDV shot by 2 frames. Annoying and no idea why it’s doing it.
