Anyone else having weird Batch Capture behaviour with FCP 6.0.2?

I noticed this happen last week when i tried load a couple of clips, and its just gone and done the same darned thing this morning.

I loaded the tape, logged 5 very short clips – around 6 secs each. Selected the uncaptured clips and chose Batch Capture.

FCP proceeded to play through the entire duration of video from first in point to last outpoint for each clip. Then after doing all that it finishes and tells me it still hasn’t captured one of the clips!!

I do hope 6.0.3 is not too far away!!

[lightning ad] “Anyone else having weird Batch Capture behaviour with FCP 6.0.2?”

Nope. Working on a Weather Channel project right now. Logged 7 tapes and captured about 1 hour’s worth of stuff just fine. It was a mix of Beta and DVCAM material so I captured off two completely different decks running both RS-422 and Firewire.

Could be something else in your logs causing the issue I suppose.

I have seen this, but can’t offer a fix. I just hit ‘cancel’ and all the clips are captured correctly.

at least i’m not the only one who’s seeing it !

The cancel option relinks some of the files, but i have just discovered another odd aspect to this problem. I Highlighted an entire project i got from a colleague overseas, hit batch capture etc etc. I managed to link 17 of the 61 clips on the tape. But i noticed that the amount of disc space used was rather excessive, so a hunt through the capture scratch show that regardless of the clip duration (ranges from 1 sec to 7 secs at 10 bit uncompressed sd pal every clip was showing as being 1.9gb in size!!

Something is definitely wrong here, and i know its not any of my settings that have changed!

    I think i may have cured it….

Install the newest Aja Kona 3 driver (v5) , then repaired permissions, then used FCPRestore6. And hey presto, the previous batch that was so screwy just works correctly.
