  • basic text tool 3d rotation (like Heroes opening title)

Sorry to post a dumb question but my brain isn’t working right now.

I have 3 words on a line I set up with the text tool and I want each charater to rotate individually, but all at the same time. As if they were all sideways and rotate in 3d space. I think they do the same move on the main title for the TV show Heroes.

I’ve done it before and it was so simple and now I’m stuck.

    Thanks I’m making myself crazy.

Look for a text animation preset (under Animation). Couldn’t tell which one does this, but experiment and find out.

I went through them all the sample films and couldn’t find it. But I thought it was a preset thing as well. Or an expression of some sort.

3D rotation is not supported. You need to apply a scale animator (X axis) and animate its value. The result looks pretty much the same.

Why don’t you just put each letter on it’s own layer, check the 3D cube box, then rotate their Y from 90 to 0 with keyframes? They will be invisible at 90 degrees, then appear as they revolve, but it sounds like that’s what you want. No?

CAnimating the X scale of a 2D layer looks OK, but next to a 3D layer rotating it pales.
