basic questions
I’m looking to invest in FCExpress, however playing with it a bit in the Apple store I couldn’t figure out how to do a couple things that I’ve grown accustomed to doing in vegas.
1) fade clips by dragging the corners
2) Change clip speed using ‘velocity envelopes’
3) Ching clip speed b click-drag-stretching the clipsare these features available in Final Cut, or is it more menu driven?

This is a different application. Don’t try to make it work like Vegas or any other application. It doesn’t work like Vegas, very few applications do.
1. Not like Vegas. You have to turn on clip overlays and use the pen tool to add keyframes to opacity. Or apply a cross dissolve.
2. No velocity envelopes. Only constant speed change.
3. Not available in FCE. Something similar in FCP.

Not entirely true. There is the Time Remap. Unless I am misunderstanding what a velocity envelope is. Never used Vegas.
