  • basic Mountn Lion Install Q – do I have to REinstall FCP, etc onto same drive after?

    Hi Folks –
    OSX 10.6.8
    Mac Pro 2011 12 core/14GB
    FCP 7.0.3

have all the above on 2 internal drives (so, a safety boot drive of same)
LIke to update primary HD with Mtn Lion. (and later the 2nd drive once I know its all good)
    The Q-
will the current software/apps on the main drive remain intact? ie just the OS software is replaced… or do I then have to manually reload every app (FCP, photoshop, etc, etc) back into this drive?? gads….
    thanks

The best practice is to do a clean install then reinstall your apps. You already have a bootable backup of your current config which is good. For more protection you might want to remove one of the 2 drives with 10.6 and install 10.8 onto a new drive. Later, after you backup 10.8 to your second drive, you still have the 10.6 drive in case you need to go back to that.
