Bad (interlaced) frames in capture from 1080PsF-23.976 D5 source
Hi all,
We are seeing a number of bad frames in a capture from a 1080PsF-23.976 D5 source when using the DeckLink HD Pro 4:4:4. The frames in the quicktime appear as if they are interlaced, but the exact same frame on the D5 is not. Also, the frame when captured using a card from another vendor does not exhibit this problem. We have seen this problem in the past with cards from other vendors, but they have all addressed it. The problem as I understand it is that the capture card becomes confused about sF field dominance in the stream from the D5, and either skips, repeats or transposes the segments when assembling the frame. We are testing with a 30 minute clip, but we will be capturing full features if we can iron out the problem.
We are using the DeckLink Capture tool with the DeckLink HD Pro 4:4:4 on a Windows XP SP1 platform and writing through the Blackmagic 10bit codec (which, for the most part, makes an fine image). We are feeding 23.976PsF tri-level analog sync to both the DeckLink and the D5 (which reports good sync). The problem is repeatable, and is present whether or not a sync signal is used.

Hi Kevin,
We’re not immediately able to test this but hopefully will be able to by tomorrow. In the meanwhile, do you have an application such as Premiere Pro 1.5.1 or Vegas 6 with which you could test this. This would provide a useful comparison test.
