bad export quality Final Cut + Primatte Keyer

First time in Forum, thanks in advance for your help and patience.
I’m editing a 2 minutes video (one person talking to camera, green screen)shot with EX 1. Import in Final Cut Pro 6.0.5, sequence XDCAM EX 1080i50 35MB.
Editing done, then chroma key with Primatte Keyer.
Once green is cut off, a new background is generated in Final Cut, a grey radial gradient behind the main character.
Results look pretty good on Preview window in FCP (no external video monitor, sorry)
Problems appear on export: our client needs an QT self-contained movie, XDCAM HD 50 Mbps 422 Long GOP, 16:9,1080i, 25 fps, Chroma sample: 4:2:2, Bit Rate: 50Mbps. So we export our sequence with these export settings in Final Cut. Results is poor quality specially on gradients (banding) and lots of noise on the green screen takes.
We’ve tried to exporting with Animation or ProRes codecs,similar results.
Any ideas what are we doing wrong?

PS: I’m working on iMac iCore5,2.7 GHz.

You can try the reduce banding filter. Sometimes works pretty well. Sometimes negligible.

What are you using to look at the exported files with?

We look exported clips on same iMac display,27 inch.Also on a Dell 23 flat monitor, same results.Any ideas?

Banding is an ongoing battle when dealing with soft gradient backgrounds. Here is a solution I’ve found when recently working with some backgrounds. It may add a bit too much texture for what you need or you may like it.
In FCP got to Effects/Video Filters/Stylize/Add Noise
Use the settings as shown in the image. You are not adding much and are only doing a 50% mix of the effect.

Pretty sure that’s what the dedicated reduce banding filter does.
