Can anyone help? I need to create a disco/psychedelic style moving backdrop to run as a continuous loop. The idea is that children singing will be dropped in over the top of it and it should suggest that they are in a pop world/universe. Is the best way of doing this to use a wave generator in AE. Are there any good plug ins that offer lots of options for creating morphing backgrounds?

Try the effect called Fractal Noise (under the noise and grain section of effects), which can be used to make looping fractal Backgrounds – they are Black and white however. One of my favorite effects becasue its so versatile.

To colorize them, use the effect called Colorama – which I believe is under the effect section called Image control.

It takes the black and whites and based on luminance assigns a color. At least I think that’s how it works. I haven;t looked at it in a long time.

Or use Render–> FRACTAL (not fractal noise)

    choose set choice: Julia
    add 2 keyframes to magnification: 1st one -13 (that’s negative 13) and the 2nd one 100
and watch a magnificently colorful acid trip present itself…
