I’m starting some beginner editing and service for friends with weddings etc. When i’m backing up and want to free up space from external… what is the best way to back up 10 minudv tapes or so? Burning through vegas as video file, or buring as files onto the DVD. I just have a normal DVD burner, would dual layer work?

You could burn the files to D/L DVDs as data files. For the time involved, you’d probably find an HDD is cheaper, unless you set the DVDs to burn overnight. Bear in mind that reloading to HDD from DVD will take a long while as well.
