backing up fcpx with time machine versa duplicating projects.
Hi…
After spending the last 4 hours recovering a project bit by bit…. I was wondering what the main consensus is for backing up files. Some clips i got from projects that I had duplicated ( which probably made FCPX heavy and some recovered by time machine… the time machine in the end seemed very good but I had to close FCPX and then clear out all projects with the same name. then restore and open fcpx. copy and paste clips I needed and the paste into a new project. Time machine backing up seemed to take less time and memory than duplicating the projects.
How do others do it ? I am used to AE and its wonderful saving back ups and incremental saving. easy to restore etc….. !!!Anita

I don’t trust Time Machine when working on video. It seems to get in the way and slow things down. I use Superduper and back up to a disk that is normally offline to not confuse FCPX. For final archiving, the Mac Break Studio guys seem to have it well laid out. They really do a good job explaining how the rendered stuff make the project files huge.

No. I only use Superduper at the end of a session. So I am not backing up continuously.

I looking forward to trying out “Backups for Final Cut Pro.” They have a FCPX 10.1 compatible version in the works. Hear good things about the app.
