  • Background won’t render in Quicktime

Posted by Jim Scott on December 8, 2014 at 2:57 am

I have a Background Object with a jpeg applied as a texture. The background shows properly when rendered in the View window as well as the Picture Viewer. However, when rendering out a Quicktime Movie file (rendering single frames for testing, if that makes a difference) the background renders only black. If rendered as a pict file it renders the image properly. I must be missing some setting but can’t find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m using R13 Studio on a Mac.

    Thanks

Apparently the Alpha Channel messes up the Quicktime file so unchecking it in the render settings solves the problem.

To save an Alpha channel in Quicktime you’d probably want to be using Animation codec with colors set to Millions+

Thanks Brian. I appreciate the insight.

In this case I wasn’t trying to save an Alpha Channel, but apparently it was interfering with the Background rendering properly.
