    compositing in 1080i.
when rendering feilds I see my background plate through the fields at the edges of foreground objects as they move accross screen.
especially at points where contrast is high.

    The field order is correct.
everything is normal technically, but its a visual problem.

    any tricks to minimize this?

When you masked or roto’ed did you do it at 29.97 or 59.94 fps?

If 29.97, you should have separated fields, then done it at 59.94.

    Was that it?

Hm. Did you try keying in a 59.94 fps comp, then rendering that to 29.97 with fields?
