  • Background colour visible in Alpha Channel on edges.

    Hi,

I need to output a clip with an embedded matte for delivery to a tv channel.

I’m finding as in the past that After Effects rings all mattes with the colour of the Background.

Normally this isnt too much of a problem however the current clip only has three colours magenta/black/white.

A magenta blackground will ring the black edge with magenta -and- the black background will ring the magenta with black.

I’ve tried exporting a luma matte and using it to mask two different coloured solids but after effects defaults to the background colour regardless.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Did you render (use the render queue) with straight alpha? Most apps prefer that.

as opposed to premultiplied? no. i’ll try that thank you. i suspect that may do the job.

Always use straight mattes where you can. Premultiplied mattes will always include a small amount of the background color in the semi-transparent areas.
