    Hey guys,
Hope this isn’t too stupid a question. I’m wondering if there is a way to give objects translucence — the way backlight shines through fabric or paper or a lampshade. I know you can up the blur in transparency to cloud up the transparency but this adds render time and isn’t really the same quality. I’m hoping there is a simple/fast way to designate that light/shadows show through a surface with out there actually being any transparency or luminance to the objects material. I imagine it’s a pretty obvious solution but i can’t seem to find any info on this…
    Thanks for your help!

In the luminanace and/or diffusion (depending on lighting) channels use Effects/Backlighting

Thanks Brian. I will mess around with those.
(I’m building a clipper ship at sea and have lit the scene with a infinite/sky light, backlighting as a sunset would. I’d like the sails to catch/transmit the sunset light and show the shadows from ropes and masts behind the sails.)
