Awkward Masking of Video in FCP 6
I am adding several videos of various sizes onto a timeline in FCP 6.
When I select a 320×240 video from the Browser, it looks okay in the Viewer window, but once I add it to the timeline, it is inexplicably masked in the Canvas window. It looks like it has increased in size (hence, blurred) and cut out of the 320×240 frame by some masking method that I did not apply.
I have made sure that it’s 100% scaled and that the anchor point is centered. Wheh I move the anchor point, the entire ‘mask’ moves. I cannot manipulate the video WITHIN the ‘mask.’
Can anyone explain this?
Timeline Details:
720×480 – NTSC DV (3:2) Aspect Ratio
Pixel AR: NTSC – CCIR 601/DV (720×480)
Field Dom: Lower (Even)
Editing Timebase: 29.97
Compressor: DV/DVCPRO – NTSCThanks in advance!

It’s not masked, it’s just smaller than your full size Canvas. You can drag it around if you like, you just have to put your Canvas into Image + Wireframe first.
