Hi. I received job offer to work as an editor for some television project. The offer has one condition – I must perfectly learn how to use Avid Media Composer Adrenaline. I have no experience with this editing system (I used only Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere so far), but I can borrow Avid Xpress Pro 5.8 from my friend and I can start learning with this version of Avid at home. My question is – if I master Avid Xpress Pro 5.8, could I then work with Media Composer Adrenaline without any problems? Whats the main differences between these versions of Avid? Thanks for answer!
(Sorry for my english, it is not my first language 🙂

Xpress Pro 5.8 versus Media Composer 3.x. The same, but on Media Composer you also get:

    More resolutions.

More effects. Namely Spectramatte (chromkeyer), Animatte, better shot stabilization, keyframeable timewarps…

More realtime playback enabled. XPress Pro is artificially limited to playing back 1 stream of 1:1 footage. Media Composer is limited only
    by your system specs.

More info about your work–two lines of info above your Source/Record monitors, two rows of buttons, more lines in your timecode window, etc…

Some more keyboard shortcuts – Top and Tail edit, Select Clips To Right/Left of position indicator, and Between In/Out marks.

These are the major differences I can think of. Otherwise, they share the same codebase, so they’re nearly identical in terms of operating the software.

    Good luck!

    Michael.
