    Hi,
I have put this post earlier. Will repeat the problem again.
I have purchased one use HP XW8000 dual xeon with ATI Fire GL1 card and 1,5 GB RAM in used condition.Inside it is mentioned that it is configured for Avid DS(But it does not have any cards all PCI slots are empty).I purchased to use it with Avid Xpress Pro for DV editing thru Firewire(on board of HP xw8000).It has Win XP pro .This is the problem I am facing :

    1. When I am capturing thru DV the video shows some coloured dots when capturing or even playback. When I render any effect the dots become prominent.Even if I bring a still image it gives the same results which means the DV input is okay.

    2. After getting some suggestions from my earlier post I purchased a Nvideo Quadro4 980 XGL 128 MB AGP card. But same results.

    3. I have tried everything from reinstalling XP,Avid ,installing all drivers from HP etc etc.But no results.

CAN IT BE THAT THE AGP SLOT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND SO THE VIDEO IS DISTURBED.Pl help .
    Thks

What kind of storage are you using?

Check avid’s website for the approved graphics card. I don’t think the ATI card is certified. Are you digitizing to your system hard drive? The avid application and media can’t be on the same drive. If you’re going to run xpro with mojo you must get an ADS Pyro PCI 64 firewire card.

    Hi,

I have replaced the card with Quadro4 980 XGL and I am using to Medea Raid RTRX to capture video. But the problem persists.I am not using mojo.

When I am capturing thru firewire the video on desktop has coloured dots but the camera video is ok.When I am playing back the same video from the Avid Timeline the video has coloured dots but camera video is ok.Further when I put any video effect on the video after rendering the video becomes blocky on desktop & camera both.Same with transitions. The quality icon is for full quality.

Then I unistalled Avid & loaded Premier 6.5 on the machine. Here when I am capturing video is okay on both desktop & camera but if I put any video effect and render and playback the video is blocky both on desktop and camera.
Can it be the fault of AGP slot or RAM?Please help.
    Thks

Disconnect the Medea drives and try to digitize to your internal drive. Also try to import video you digitized with Premiere and see if it is ok both to Medea and internal. I am betting on Medea being a problem. Medea drives are suspect in my book.
