After MONTHS of waiting (years for some), the new upgrades are out! While not super-amazing, the new upgrades offer the long-awaited MacIntel support for users with the new Mac Pro/MacBook Pro systems, 720p50 PAL HD support for our bretheren in PAL-land, scrolling timeline (the prodigal son returns!), and some other improvements. It’s a nice tie-over until Avid announces their new offerings at NAB, as well as whenever they announce XPro 6/MC 3, etc.

Xpress Studio users, take note: Digi 003 is NOT supported (nor shipping with Studio 5.7) at this time! On-Going testing is being conducted currently to ensure no problems with the new 003 family. Also, as of Studio 5.7, Avid has FINALLY made XPro and Pro Tools LE play nicely together, because the “Avid” version of Pro Tools LE has been replaced with the regular Digidesign version of PT LE 7.3. Way to go Avid!

If I’m not mistaken, Newscutter 6.7 and Symphony Nitris 1.7 are also included in this release as well.

Upgrade pricing (this is NOT a free upgrade!!!):

    * $50-$150 for XPro users (depends on which version you’re using)
    * $995 for MC-soft users (includes one year of Assurance)
    * $295 for Xpress Studio 5.2.1 users to Xpress Studio 5.7
    * $Unknown amount for MC-soft users who neither have nor want Assurance (trying to find out how much it is)
    * Free with Assurance for Symphony users.

Having used XPro 5.7 for months, I can attest to this being good, solid, stable software. Many users are reporting noted performance increases coming from XPro 5.6.x to 5.7.

Upgrades can be purchased on the Avidstore. https://www.avidstore.com

    Enjoy.
