    Hey guys

I have never had to do this before, but my job is being online on an Avid symphony. The EDL has transferred okay, but I can’t get Avid to read the OMF v2 embedded file I exported.

All I did was select all audio clips on sequence, remove attributes, then Export as OMFI v2 with 25f handles and no crossfades. There were no error messages and the file on the desktop looks to be the right size were I to have exported it from AVID.

I am used to exporting OMFI v1 and v2s from AVID, and usually I get a bunch more options than FCP allows me, all about whether to reference, copy or embed the media, whether the media will be AIFF-C or WAV based, etc etc… anyway, does anyone here export their audio to OMFI for use in Avid regularly? Who can advise me what i’m doing wrong here? It would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Tarka the Otter

I’m not sure if you can send an OMF to AVID without using the Automatic Duck Pro Exporter. We bring Avid timelines into FCP for finishing all the time, but we haven’t been asked to send anything to Avid yet. Might want to look at the duck’s website to read up on sending stuff from fCP to Avid.

OMF’s exported from FCP will ONLY work in digital audio workstations, like Pro Tools.

If you want OMF’s readable by Avids, you need Automatic Duck.
