AVID vs. Final Cut Pro
Posted by Rhoan Murdock on August 30, 2010 at 9:20 pmFor those who’ve use both AVID & Final Cut Pro which editing system would you recommend for a new up and coming videographer?

August 30, 2010 at 11:23 pmHow much money does this up-and-coming videographer have and what does this up-and-coming videographer want and need his/her editing system to do?
As far as editing goes, both systems have their strengths and weaknesses. Avid can be expensive if you need to output, as you can only use their hardware…the up-front cost can be higher. FCP can end up costing you more time and money in the long run, depending on your needs and workflow.

But it all depends on your budget, what capabilities you want, and where, and if, you want to market yourself as an editor. If you just want something that works with your camera to make demos…well, look at the one that best supports your camera. And see if the app contains all the stuff you need to do to make a good demo.
