    Hello All,

    Quick simple question – if I have an older version of Avid Express Pro (say 5.0), then I go out and buy a new copy of Avid Express Pro (say 5.6), can I use the key/dongle that came with the new version to run the old version? Or vice versa? Can I use the old key/dongle to run the new version?

    If you buy 5.6 you can use it to run 5.0 or any previous version. Dongles are backward compatible.

    If you buy 5.6 your 5.0 dongle will not run it–you would need to buy the upgrade from 5.0 to 5.6 and run a dongle updater on the 5.0 dongle, which will “bless” it to run 5.6.
