Avid Upgrade Compatibility
I am currently running Mac OSX 10.5.8 with Intel Xeon processor and 8 GB of memory. I am using Media Composer (Academic) 3.1.2. What do I need to upgrade to MC (Academic) 5.5? According to their website, that seems to be the latest version. I tried using Avid support to answer this question. Even with a new account, it refuses to let me log into support to even ask the question.

MacOS 10.6.6 is as high as you can go. And you must be on Snow Leopard in order to run that version. Works with the lastest QT, 7.6.6.

You need 10.6.6, the current version of Snow leopard.
I don’t think you can’t upgrade *that* academic version. You’ll have to pay them and buy another academic version ($295) – you’ll also end up getting four years of updates at this point.
