    Hello everyone,

We are currently using Avid MCA v2.7.2 and when laying off SD or HD sequences to our decks we are getting persitent Underrun Errors. The digicut stops in different places with each attempt regardless of the file’s resolution. We use Avid stripped scsi drives and have run a variety of speed tests. Over 300gb free so cant think what could be causing it. All suggestions and help in this would be deeply appreciated.

    thank you

An immediate fix is to do 1 of 2 things:

-Make sure EVERY effect is rendered (even RT dissolves, wipes)

-Do a video and or audio mixdown of your sequence.

In the long run, make sure you set your drives to use ‘all available’ when you digitize. An under run occurs when the disc heads can’t acess files fast enough – meaning you’ve got a file or two in close proximity to each other on the same drive, and the head can’t move fast enough to read each one in succession (which is why you NEVER defrag your media drives).

    Thanks

Turned out to be that the SAS was not turned off in the Bios…
