Avid to FCP color/gamma/levels shift… sometimes
For a client, I’ll often work with an Avid editor.
He’ll send me a video on XDCAM, in XDCAM HD1080i60 format, and it’ll look wonderful. But then, he sends me a section of the video over the internet to fix a typo or whatever, which he exports as XDCAM HD1080i60.
When I put the section I received over the internet into my timeline, the color is drastically different than what I received on the XDCAM disc. Everything looks washed out. Blacks are not at 0, and whites aren’t at 100%. It’s next to impossible to match the colors with the Color Corrector.
Any idea what is happening? Is this a problem on the Avid side, the FCP side, or is it just a lost in translation thing?
Thanks!——
