Avid quicktime not reading in FCP 7.0
Hi Guys
I’m currently working on a film tribute, (in the UK so PAL), and consequently there are a lot of different formats being used, one of which are quicktimes from an Avid. I downloaded the Avid codecs and can view them in quicktime on my mac but when importing them into Final Cut 7 the picture is white but the audio is fine. Long story short the op has exported them with the Avid 1:1x, Integer (Big Endian) codec, I’m sure this is the wrong codec and they should be using DNxHD codecs but they’ve made me doubt myself even though I operate on both Avid and FCP…help?

DNxHD works fine in FCP. We’ve never tried any other Avid codec in FCP.

When it comes to Avid 1:1 codecs, the Avid LE codec installer won’t install the proper codecs. Only the Avid PE codec installer, that comes with the Avid MC install disk, installs the proper codecs. Not ALL of Avid’s codecs are available in the LE codec installer…as you see.

I’ve worked with the Meridien codec in FCP…just FYI.
It came in the LE bundle…

Works just fine for me, including the 1:1x codecs. Have done a bunch recently. Make sure you have installed the correct version for your system.

Uninstalled and re imported the codecs all seems to be working fine now. Appreciate all the feedback.
