I am new to FCP – I want to do the “Dogtown and Z-boyz” effect with still images. In avid I use a pan and zoom plug in – to connect my effect to the original image. Does FCP have an equivalent?

Dogtown and Z-boys was done using a motion control flatbead with a camera pointed down at it. And the operator was doing everything manually when normally it is computer controlled, and Stacy Peralta was throwing pictures down one after the other. Quite fun to see (I was the post coordinator at the company that did that).

    FCP does this…built in…no plugins.

    I have a tutorial here on that…

Thanks Shane. Yet another FCP bit o’ coolness for an AVID convert to enjoy.

Using the AVID plug in I totally ripped off the Z-Boys style on a sk8 vid I made for an internal pitch.

But so cool to know that Peralta did that on a flat bed.

    Thanks for the 411.

Oh – dissapointment. The FCP motion controls won’t seem to allow me to do “S” moves like the avid plug in. Its all just straight zooms or pans. No offense , but the looks a bit boring to me – like a Ken Burns doc – sorry Ken – but your flicks are snoozers compared to Peraltas style that is much more in tune with the MTV/ADD generation.

    Can anyone advise?
