    Hi Guys

I need to learn AVID and fast,The company I work for wants me to move over from Sony Vegas to Avid.
We have a shiny new AVID machine sitting downstairs ready for me to use.
I’ve spent a few days playing around and understand the(very)basics of how it all works.

So now I’m looking for a week long course to go on in the UK I’ve seen 4 courses, 2 in London, 1 in Manchester and 1 in Glasgow.

Has anyone been here been on a course that they would recommend or know of anyone that has been on a course that I could have a chat with?

    Cheers

    Matt

I agree, I would recommend a structured course rather than just winging it.
    Try Skillset, for subsidised courses.
I don’t know if Soho Editors is still going, but I think they had a good course.
Try one of the other Avid discussion groups –
    https://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/Avid-L2/
through that, try get in touch with Roger Shufflebottom, I think he used to train individuals, but he had contacts in many places, he may be able to help.

In the mean time, go through the tutorials in the Avid website:

You’re into a wonderfull world with Avid, Good Luck.

Avid, through Avid Authorized Training Centers, has a comprehensive set of courses that are intense and hands on.

Start with MC 101 on this page here for a schedule of the one closest to you.

If you want to know a specific of any given class, ask away!

    Best,

    Thanks for the advice/links/contacts
I’ll take a look and/or get in touch with people

I’ve been through the Avid on-line starter course but I want to be sure I know what I’m doing before I start transferring my work load from one platform to another.

I’ll be back soon with more questions…
