Avid Media Composer won’t render, create/edit titles, export files
Posted by Jaylene O’keefe on March 2, 2023 at 4:35 pmMy Avid Media Composer v7.02.1771 (coupled with Genesis NX array storage) won’t render, create/edit titles, import/export files…I think basically any function that normally requires it to create a new file. Sometimes it reports a disc access error, sometimes it does not report an error but doesn’t do the task either.
Could it be a permissions issue, since it has also reported I don’t have disc access to save to a specific folder that I’ve routinely saved to in the past?
Any assistance in how to resolve this appreciated.Shahid shahan replied 1 year, 9 months ago 3 Members · 7 Replies -

April 4, 2023 at 5:49 pmIt’s possible that the issue you’re experiencing is related to permissions, but there could be other causes as well. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
-
Check the system requirements: Make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for running Avid Media Composer v7.02.1771. You can find these requirements on the Avid website.
-
Update the software: Check for any updates to Avid Media Composer and make sure that you have the latest version installed. Updating the software may resolve any known bugs or issues.
-
Check the storage system: Verify that the Genesis NX array storage is properly connected and functioning. You may need to check with your IT department or storage vendor to troubleshoot any issues with the storage system.
-
Check file permissions: Make sure that you have the appropriate permissions to access and save files to the folders you need. This may require adjusting permissions in the file system or consulting with your IT department.
-
Test with a new project: Try creating a new project and see if you are able to render, create/edit titles, import/export files, and perform other functions without issue. If the problem persists, it may be a software or hardware issue that requires further troubleshooting.
-
Contact Avid support: If you are still having trouble after trying these steps, contact Avid support for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or suggest a solution based on your specific setup and configuration.
I hope this helps you resolve the issue with Avid Media Composer.

April 4, 2023 at 6:03 pmIt is possible that the issue you are experiencing with Avid Media Composer v7.02.1771 is related to permissions. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:
- Check the permissions on the folders and files that you are trying to access in Avid Media Composer. Make sure that the permissions are set correctly and that you have the necessary permissions to access and modify the files.
- Try running Avid Media Composer as an administrator. Right-click on the Avid Media Composer shortcut and select “Run as administrator”. This will give Avid Media Composer elevated privileges and may resolve any permission issues.
- Make sure that your anti-virus software is not blocking Avid Media Composer from accessing the necessary files and folders. Temporarily disable your anti-virus software and see if the issue persists.
- Check the disk space on your system drive and the drive where your Avid Media Composer project files are stored. If the drive is full, you may not be able to create new files or render.
- Try resetting the Avid Media Composer settings to their default values. To do this, go to the “Settings” tab in Avid Media Composer and click on “General”. Then click on “Reset All Settings”.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to contact Avid technical support for further assistance
