Avid Media Composer | Bin Merge | Bins not seen
Hi
2 Editors working on one single project(Apple)
Both working in different Hard Drives with the same Avid Media Files.Editor A on HD 01-(Apple) Avid Project
Editor B on HD 02-(Apple 2) Avid ProjectCopied the .avb (avid bins) and folders from HD02(Editor B) to HD01(Editor A) in the Apple Avid Projects for the Final Edit.
All folders and bins are working great in HD01(Editor A). Made the Final Cut.
Took the HD01 in a different location, different studio.
Editor B’s bins folders and the Final Cut is not seen in the HD01.STRANGE
Help needed.

I would just go to where your avid projects are stored, and zip up the project you are working on.
Go to the second machine and unzip the project to it’s avid projects location.
If the project already exists there, move it to a different location, or point avid to the new location of the current version.
If you are trying to open a bin from machineA, on machineB, but machine B already has a copy of that bin within the project, you are asking for trouble. You have to make sure the original is not open.
Easier way is to just copy the project over, and open it on the new box.
If there are items on machine B that are needed in machine A’s project…well, now you are getting a bit hairy in what you are trying to do without a shared bin locking system.Glenn

Make sure the bins have the .avb file extension. I’ve seen them be invisible to Avid if they don’t.
