    Hi,

I have a strange issue that i’m seeking some help with.

It seems that when i open media composer it automatically limits the volume of whatever ever is playing on my computer i.e. browser open playing music is then dropped in volume when avid opens, but this only happens when MC window is open, if minimized it returns to original volume.

    Thanks

    This is normal.

Ok, is there any reason why?

    Cheers

Avid did a survey a while back and determined that nearly 100% of the users wanted to hear the audio that was on the timeline rather than the audio playing in the browser. They put out some release notes that said if you wanted to listen to music while editing you had 3 options: use a radio, an ipod or hire a small band (3 or 4 piece depending on the size of your edit suite).

Sorry I missed your second query. My guess (yes, guess) is that like some other high powered audio/video apps, Avid doesn’t like to share the audio driver. Probably makes it a lot more stable. But it’s possible Gary got it right!
