This is a project I started a long time ago, 2007, and back then HDV was a high quality option for low budget projects.

During that year I shot a lot of stuff in 1080p 50i with a Sony Z1 camera.

Last year, when I had made my mind this would become a theter feature film, I started capturing the tapes with MC 6.5.2.

But I thought the HD image quality might be improved on some more stuff I had to shoot, so I bought a Blackmagic Pocket camera, and started using the Pocket, shooting @ 1080p 25p, as A camera for the wide shots, allowing me some focus control, and the Sony Z1, shooting @ 1080 50i, for the close-ups. Will be shooting some more stuff with that same setup next month.

MC now was to be MC7, so I’m wondering on several thigns:

    1) Should I start a new project on the MC7, but using which codec?

    2) Should I convert HDV to ProRes?

    3) Which is the best way to mix both formats and will it turn out fine?
