Avid MC5 AMA XDCAM workflow options
Hi all,
This is my first post, one of many I imagine of your fantastic forums.
We’re are in the process of designing a workflow for a project we’re posting soon. There will be 12 shows and will be shot on XDCAM. I’m hoping you may be able to give me some advice.
So far this is how we imagine it going:
We will receive the disc(s) for each episode. We’ll use AMA to link to the most compressed video and highest quality audio. We will then consolidate this to the episode’s workspace. The disc will go on the shelf in the library until the conform, much like a tape based project.
What we’re hoping to do in regards to the conform is relink directly to the highest quality video on the discs and then consolidate this to a workspace. Is this possible?
We don’t have the option of transferring the full contents of the disc to storage as we are very limited in this aspect.
Another thing that I can’t seem to find an answer to is the issue of tape names or tape IDs. Because we’re going to end up with a lot of discs, when it comes to the conform, how will the Avid inform us of which disc it is looking for? Is there a way of applying a tape name to clips?
Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
jon
