    Avid MC 6.5 – Playhead begins to jump/shudder before crash with no error

    We’re running MC 6.5.0 on MacPros, software only, and have encountered this problem on a couple of the systems. The playhead will suddenly begin to jump back and forth over a couple frames and the software will crash without generating an error. Just wondering if anyone has encountered this before and has any advice. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    System info –
    OSX versions: 10.8 and 10.6.8
    Processor: 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-core Intel Xeon
    Memory: 20GB 1066 MHz DDR3
    Shared storage: Facilis Terrablock over fibre channel via ATTO Celerity card

    I can’t imagine it is the facilis, but it is worth ruling it out. Consolidate media to a local drive, then disconnect the facilis and confirm. I haven’t seen this behavior, but it sounds like a playback buffering issue.

    Open the console (Tools->console in the Avid app), and see what it says when this occurs.
