I recently purchased a Dell Precision 470 Workstation so that I could have a home Avid editing system. I’m a student and not too much of a techy, so I was wondering if anyone knew why, after I installed Avid, every time I shut down my computer I get a notice that reads “Memory 0x02d81611 can not be read” Note the computer runs great when it is on, but I don’t know if the warning could become a bigger problem or if it is something I could solve. If anyone knows I’d greatly appreciate any help.

    Thanks a bunch,

    John

What OS specifically are you running? XP Pro SP2, Home, Media Center?

How much memory do you have?

What happens when you Quit Avid?

My OS is SP2, I have 160 GB hard drive although I save all of my media, OMFI Files, and renders to an external hard drvie of 250 GB. When I quit Avid nothing out of the ordinary happens. The computer runs perfectly normally except when I shut down the entire computer. Then it brings up the sign that says that the memory is not readable.

Once again… the old adage with confusion between HD storage space & ram (memory).

You’re getting a memory (RAM) error, not a hard drive error. How much RAM do you have?

2 GB of ram, i dont have any HD footage on my drive but it is avid HD so I dont know if that would be the problem or not?

    Sorry… I mentioned HD as in “hard drive”… not “hi-def” 🙂
