  Avid FX: combined fx, noise reduction & unsharp mask: one or the other works but not both together … ???

  A little unsharp mask helps a simple Canon 5D video track immensely; likewise for FX noise reduction.

  But applied together only the top one has its intended effect. That is, the upstream effect, either noise or sharpening, works as expected. The downstream effect, either noise or sharpening, has no effect.

  I have tried placing both effects above the video track and also tried placing them in the video face track: same result: the uppper effect has the intended result but the lower of the two has no effect at all.

  I must be missing something basic in the concept here. Something having to do with how “compositing” works???

  Any thoughts???
