Xpress Pro has the same feature set, KeyKode and film management than the Avid Film Composer and Media Composer. All feet and frame tracking is in context rather than in a separate application that uses an EDL for cutlist creation. Avid abandoned that concept in 1992 when it used MediaMatch.

Many features have used Xpress Pro for the entire editing process such as Hustle & Flow or as part of the overall editing process as with Mr. and Mrs. Smith, etc. Companies like eFilm use Xpress Pro to generate all lists for their scan and DI process. It is quite up to the task of feature film editing regardless of gauge.

I use FCP and Avid…and I will have to say that Avid still is the best application to go to for film editing. No matter what Walter Murch says, they struggled with that software. And while FCP does have a future with film work…it isn’t here yet. Avid was designed to work with film from it’s very inception, so it is still the best application for cutting film projects.

    IMHO.
