    hello,

I have a project which I have been asked to online, from an avid express pro DV project, my version of express online is very old, 2000 I think is when we got it, so I can’t just open up the project file as it doesn’t have the correct codecs, so I requested that the offline editor outputs an omfi2 for me so I can conform the tapes and then batch import the 3rd party files setting everything to 1:1 and simply updating the timeline. My question is, is this the best way of doing things?. I am sure it is but want some concrete backup as my client is quite jittery and inexperienced and the offline editor is pretty inexperienced aswell.

Why don’t you just try opening the bin with the seqeunce and rebatch capture the media in your system?

Have you tried just the bin containing the sequence in a project you make? If it doesn’t open, there is probably some effects in there that are new and are not compatible with older systems. You can try removing some of the more fancy effects (or plug-ins) and see if you can get it in. You could always try removing all effects just to see if this approach with work before trying to remove selected effects without knowing which one(s)are causing this.

The other way of course is to upgrade your Xpress Pro…
