I am trying to figure out if Avid has an HD codec I can render to from After Effects. I found their downloadable source codec for DNxHD, but not being that tech-savvy, it does me no good. I need the codec to pop into my Quicktime folder in my Mac system library and then just show up in my render options in After Effects.
Where can I find the version of DNxHD that can do that? Or is it still in beta form and not ready yet?
My online searches were not clear to me on that point.

    thanks!

    Hi,

Last I heard there was not Mac version of the dnxHD codec so it looks like your stuck using Animation or TARGA.

I have to say here that this is very lame of Avid. It makes my life harder just cause they don’t get along with Mac. Why do the little people always suffer?!

and to save you some time, if you need an alpha channel, dont try to render it embedded as RGBA.
even though it lets you choose the option, it doesnt work.
you have to render a separate QT if you need an alpha
