AVID Crossgrade Question
Posted by David C jones on June 15, 2012 at 8:19 pmI just purchased AVID Symphony (FCP Crossgrade) through B&H; the item is on back order and has my order as pending. They also never asked for my FCP Serial number. Anyone else have this experience?

June 16, 2012 at 3:25 amOnly AVID cares about your information. When you receive your software and install it, you will register with Avid and all will be good.

Im sure other vendors do it differently.
Now the fear of upgrading our MC plug-ins 😛 -

June 19, 2012 at 9:03 pmJust curious. Why did you not just download it from AVID? I am sure you had your reasons…..
The two things I needed to install Symphony 6 Crossgrade were a “SystemID” and an “ActivationID””. Both were provided from AVID via email. I am not using a dongle though.
There is additional software in the installer:
AVID FX 6.0
AVID DVD 6.4.4
Boris Continuum Complete AVX
Sorenson Squeeze 7.0.1All are separate installs and all have their own install codes (also provided by AVID via email).

June 20, 2012 at 3:45 amTo be honest, I didn’t download it because I not planning on installing it at the moment, as I’m not sure if I’ll be using it on my current system. Of course, maybe that didn’t matter anyway but, I didn’t want to get into a situation where I had to download and/or install it immediately.
Hopefully all will be well my install, though. The item has shipped and should be here on Thursday. So when I install it, I assume Avid will provide me with the codes and ID?

June 22, 2012 at 4:41 amI received the software (or rather, the install disk and paperwork) today. It has the System ID but no Activation ID. Is my FCP serial # my Activation ID since it’s a crossgrade?

June 22, 2012 at 6:14 amI do not believe your Activation ID is related to your FCP Serial #.

June 22, 2012 at 4:26 pmAfter further reading on Avid’s site, I believe I get an Activation # during the registration. I hope so, anyway as there wasn’t one in the box!
