Just a drive with media? No project? Well, it wouldn’t matter, you don’t have Avid to open it.

Avid media is VERY different from FCP. First off, unlike FCP, these files aren’t openable without Avid software, no QT preview. And they have odd and long file names.

You will need third party software to be able to view these…MXF4Mac. Not free. If you had the Avid project and the Avid APP…you could export an AAF of a sequence, and use Automatic Duck (also not free), to bring the footage into FCP.

BUT… why not download the Avid Media Composer 5 software and use that. There is a 30-day, fully featured demo available. No watermarks, nothing.
