Trying to figure out the best workflow during production to make it easier for post

We are doing a reality tv style shoot with 1 camera on a steadicam and a 1 audio operator on a boom. They will be traveling all over town capture all the relevent action. We are looking to have the audio guy record seprate ( not teathered to camera, timecode synced) and we are having the camera just record using onboard mic.

So in post is it best to sync up the audio and video in Media composer, or do we wait and have the Audio enginneer sync it up in protools we are having a quick battle with our editor and audio guy as to what is the best workflow

hope this makes sense any help is apprciated.

Sync it up in post…BEFORE you edit. That is how they will get the audio…when you send an OMF. If you don’t do that…whoooo boy.

And AutoSync since v6 allows you to keep the original audio on the video file and add the double system sound as additional tracks.

Sync in Avid prior to editing.
