    hello there,

i am using avid xpress pro with mojo on G5 mac. also have decklink hd card on the same computer.(decklink card has rs422 remote included)

when want to capture from j-3 player using its rs422 – 9 pin controller (via keyspan converter) avid cannot recognize it properly – it says that another application is using machine controller.
i tested many different solutions, and finally i gave up – pulled out decklink card. and…

…everything started to work fine. j-3 is recognised properly, i can use rs422 via keyspan normally, TC is correcly recognised…

my question is : is there ANY possibility to find a way and use BOTH solutions on one computer – which means – to work normally with avid xpress pro and keyspan remote and – (when needed) to use FCP and work with decklink hd card – using its own 9pin rs422 connector.

i don’t want to change everything each time i want to use FCP with decklink card.

    thank you,

    filip

Avid is very very licky as to the hardware installed on the machine. It doesn’t like other cards. And the Decklink is taking charge in there, thus the conflict.

Sounds like you are gonna need to get another computer for the Decklink and FCP.

    Hello:

Have you tried putting the AVID software on a separate boot partition or separate drive? I’m hoping that without the drivers installed the Mac won’t know the card is there and therefore, won’t cause any conflicts. (the reason I’m hopeful, is I’ve just bought a Mojo/AXP for my FCP/Kona G5).

    Best of luck with it.
